I found this page by accident today... it's a historical list of BBS's in North America. Some of you may know that I used to run a BBS before I became the great Internet personality I am today. Dirk Gently's Holistic BBS / Holistic BBS / Fascination Street OIS used to be my home, from '92-'96 (they got the dates wrong in the list). I wasn't like the rest of the BBS's in town, which were all Online Games, large filebases and (more often than not) pirated commercial software. Fascination Street turned into something entirely different. Our downloads consisted (after time) mostly of text files, focussing on the occult and alternate religions. I spent a lot of time trying to create a place where people could talk freely and comfortably about their beliefs. One of the regulars, Larry Ingersoll (a pseudonym used by Samuel Wagar, someone who later went on to cause quite the scandal in BC politics) was a Wiccan high priest. He and I set up 'lessons' for the other board members, as a primer to Wicca. We had a small, but great bunch on that board -- I was very sad to shut it down when I moved in '96. Some of the members are still friends today -- most have faded away. If you were a member of Fascination Street, or Holistic BBS, drop me a note - I'd love to hear from you.
ah, ancient history...
