A little miffed... (March 2005
)
I'm a little miffed that my biggest referrers seem to be porn sites, online gambling sites, and, currently, livejournal users leeching images off my site....
·
Blogs & Journalism (November 2004
)
There's an interesting article on blogs and journalism written by CBS... mental note to check this out later. (Oh, and I'm not dead, just really really frigging busy)...

Sick of comment spam? (November 2003
)
Sick of comment spam? Fight back! Fortunately, since I've changed the way my comment scripts work, I've had no spams left there... but if they start happening again, I'm definitely following this tactic....
·
new blog added... (October 2003
)
New blog added to the sidebar... Orion is a friend of ours; he's a (provisional) PhD candidate at the U of A, and helped us move last week. He's also a big geek. We wandered over to his place last night, so I could do a thorough examination of his machine - he's been having some weird periods of heavy processor load and slow network activity and wanted a second pair of eyes on it. I didn't find much in the way of problems - he's got his machine shored up pretty well, but I was able to fix a couple of things. Hopefully the machine will run a little smoother for him now....

Bill Maher has a blog. (July 2003
)
Pentagon officials says Americanizing Iraq is difficult because Iraqis have had little to no reliable information for the past 35 years, and have lived on a diet of innuendo, rumor, conspiracy theories, fear, and propaganda. Sounds like the problem is they're too Americanized. Bill Maher has a Weblog...
·
Oooh... (July 2003
)
I was mentioned in Adam Curry's Weblog, with regards to the whole RSS thing. Here's the comment I left him:Thanks for the referrer-link, Adam... but you misread my accusation. I wasn't accusing you of being paid by Microsoft to squash (n)echo. I was accusing you of using Microsoft-like techniques to squash (n)echo. As a reader of mine pointed out, RSS and (n)echo can live together happily - he even put up a sample site to demonstrate it: < http://www.tnl.net/blog/entry/RSS2Necho> I honestly don't understand what your big huff about (n)echo is about anyways. It's not like you have to use one or the other exclusively. Much like on my current page, you can just have a link for both (or use the above linked example to cover both in a single shot)....

MT-RSS feed (June 2003

Let's make the war a little more personal... (March 2003
)
It's time to make the War Against Iraq a little more personal. Here's some blogs that are, or will be based in Iraq: "No one inside Iraq is for war (note I said war not a change of regime), no human being in his right mind will ask you to give him the beating of his life . . . and if you do hear Iraqi (in Iraq, not expat) saying "come on bomb us" it is the exasperation and 10 years of sanctions and hardship talking. Where is Raed ? Back to Iraq - Christopher Allbritton, former reporter for the AP and New York Daily News, plans to head back to Iraq for war coverage. He flies into Instanbul this week and should be in Northern Iraq by next weekend....

Woohoo.. new MT. (March 2002
)
Woohoo! 4 to 9 days until the release of Movable Type 2.0! Most likely, they'll release it while I'm in Edmonton, so that I won't be able to play with it right away. I'm a huge fan of MT - I've used it since its first release. Ben and Mena have done a great job of creating a free CMS that does a hell of a lot more than maintaining a blog; It's currently being used for here, nasty, the work intranet, my writings section and some other side projects....
