Firefox 2.0

I grabbed Firefox 2.0, and I have to say, I'm impressed. There's not a whole lot of things changed in my daily use of the software, but what is changed in noticeable, such as the form-field spell-checking. K has bugged me for awhile about finding a way to build spell-checking into her course website, so no bad typos make their way on to her website. I'd been playing with some JavaScript solutions, as well as some browser extensions as a way of dealing with that, and now I don't have to rely on them anymore. I'll just install Firefox 2.0 on her laptop and it'll be taken care of.

I'm not so sure about the tab behaviour though -- I liked the single location for the tab close button, and it seems that the tab order changes to whatever you'd previously selected when closing tabs. I can get used to it, of course, but it's a change that doesn't sit all that well at the moment. The little selection droplist on the right is weird as well.

All in all though, it's a good update.

I posted a link to FF2 tweaks on ufies today, there is a way to revert to the old tab behaviour. I also like the new feed settings, but am unimpressed with the options, which now are tabs within tabs. I'm sure it's very mac-like, but compared to the old ones, it seems way more complex.

I turned on the old style tab behavior and I'm happy now, although after Dan showed me the Gestures add-on I think I may never be clicking again!
