Holy property-value increase, Batman!

We got our official property tax statement yesterday. I was shocked to see our house's value (according to the city) spike up almost $20,000 this year ($19,500 to be precise; and since we moved in three years ago it has gone up over $35,000). This is a double-edged sword, really.

On the one hand, it's nice to know that we are definitely going to get our investment back on the house when we - God Forbid - have to move. On the other, it means our property taxes went up about $300 this year alone. Such is the joy of home ownership, I suppose!

Yeah, I'm there with ya. In 10 years our property has gone up 80k, of course it's not worth selling it until we pay it off because anything else you would buy would have also gone up 80k.

Unless of course you sell and move into a doublewide.

About the only reason we'd move is if we had to leave town (and with K's work, we may have to in a year or two)... if we won the lottery (and to do that, we'd have to play the lottery), we'd likely still live exactly where we are -- but pay the house off and do a couple minor renos.

I can only assume we're paying for the cleanup of Whyte Ave every playoff-game night. ;)
