I cringe when I think about my first web pages (I started around the same time you did). Each page had a different and uniquely horrid 'background' - usually clouds or a marble design. I remember being very excited the day I learned that I could make my text blink! And don't get me started on those animated gifs. Oh, those were the days...lol
