Day 5 & 6: Now with more ow.

<< writing paper | Main | Darren's Choice >>

Yesterday night, Kirsten and I went to the gym and did an hour's worth of weights. We were supposed to go that morning, but with the trime change and general tiredness, I managed to sleep through the workout window. At the gym we did shoulders and chest - generally split between machine and free weights. I was doing not too bad (though light), except for two exercises, both for shoulders. The first was seated, pulling the weights straight up. The second was a pull-down with a straight arm, which kept turning into a tricep exercise for me somehow. All in all though, the trip to the gym wasn't that bad. We'll see if I feel the same way at 6 in the morning.

I weighed myself last night too - 187 lbs. I figured I was somewhere around there, but didn't realize it was that close to 190.

This morning was running day. I was okay but tired until about 2/3 of the way through, when I started getting this weird, bad cramp in my right shin and knee. I'm not entirely sure what it is - Kirsten figures it's my body rebelling from the exercise, but it's pretty isolated to that spot. I managed to keep running a little bit after the cramp started, but had to stop and rest/stretch a few times along the way.

For all other inquiries, see previous entry.

Update: It looks like I'm not the only one hitting the gym. Choire Sicha has started to fight the flab too.

  1. I bought a 60 lb punching bag and boxing kit (skip rope + bag gloves), does that count?

Of course I haven't set it up yet... I guess it doesn't count until I do.

  2. Are you on the "strength" or "endurance" track weights-wise?

  3. I'm on the "stop being a lazy bastard" track.

  4. I loved the thing my (cheep!) trainer designed for me. Keeps all the empowerment in and locks all the discouragement out. It's not "quick" but we live stupidly close to the gym now and have figured out that gym after work means sketchy snaxors before/after instead of dinner.
