Day 1: The slow jog of death

<< The confession | Main | Makes sense... >>

Today was the first day in the quest to lose the Buddha Belly. Kirsten and I rolled out of bed at 6:18, after hitting the snooze bar a few times, and took the dog out for a jog.

We jogged in intervals, Kirsten encouraging me to go a little further than I felt comfortable with each time - "OK, we're going to jog from here to the green tree" - - and after awhile, it wasn't as bad as it was at the beginning. I still had to take a lot of breaks (walking instead of jogging), and near the end I was jogging really slowly, but overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

Granted, I still hate jogging. My shins hurt when I'm doing it, and the achilles on my right foot is still looking up at me and shaking its fist. But, I don't have to do it every day either. Kirsten and I will be hitting the gym together on M/W/F, so I only have to jog with her on the T/R of each week. I can do this twice a week without too much complaint.
