Things that suck.

<< Helpetica | Main | A life you love >>

You know what sucks? Having several episodes of Battlestar Galactica, the Battlestar Galactica movie, and Zach Braff's movie Garden State sitting on your hard drive and being too busy to watch them.

At the moment, it looks like it's not going to let up until Dec 16. Here's a partial list of what's in store until then:

Research and write final paper for HuCo 500 - I just changed my topic, having found a paper on my previous topic that said everything I would have wanted to say. New topic is more promising, but requires a lot of background reading to make it intelligent. Due Dec 16.

HuCo 520 final project - a bit of a shoo-in, but something I still need to put a bunch of work into. Due Dec 16

Client A's site - I need to firm up a couple of things with the site, add the ability to add/edit members, and get final approval. Due ASAP.

Client B's site - much, much work to be done here, all of it back-end programming. Due in Feb, but bulk of work to be done before... you guessed it... Dec 16.

Writing at least one conference paper. We have to give a paper at the HuCo conference in January, and Kirsten may have signed me up to give another paper at the MEMI student colloqium in December.

(re)install shower in upstairs bathroom - we're waiting for a new shower base to be shipped out of Montréal, since the one we had previously installed was warped. We, of course, didn't discover this until after spending 8 hours rebuilding our bathroom floor. Elephants can now dance where once the shower was, yet the base is still unstable (because, as it turns out, the left-hand side is slightly warped upwards).

Install wainscoting, paint, and closet organizer in bedroom closet. - it's the last hanger-on from the "old" house, and mocks Kirsten every morning with it's light-pink paint.

Put up storm windows on the upstairs windows. This also includes replacing the glass in one of the panes, reglazing it, and renting a hellaciously large ladder for 15 minutes to put them up on the side of the house.

What happens on Dec 16, you might ask? That's the day Kirsten and I drive down with our puppy (and friend Orion, who's coming along for the ride) to Abbotsford for Christmas. We'll be there from the 16th and leaving on the 1st or 2nd back for Edmonton. I plan on doing as little as humanly possible during those two weeks, to make up for the business my life has been filled with the last month.
