This entry is mainly a kvetch about a "designer" I've been forced to work with. Some of you know what I've already endured at the hands of this fellow.
Don't read on if you're offended by kvetching, or if you happen to be that "designer".
Here's a quick multiple choice question: Which of the following should you do after being informed that Google will soon be crawling the site you are 'designing'?
- Putting up a development site, full of lorem ipsum text, on the root directory of a live server and not protecting it,
- putting up a placeholder page stating the nature of the site, the company's name, and adding a link for contact information, or
- completely obliterating the site and putting up a blank page?
According to the above-mentioned "designer", it's option a, then, when it is pointed out that option a is not such a good idea, option c.
If I were the client, I would be very upset with the consistently unprofessional behaviour of this "designer". At the very least, I would demand that the placeholder site that was in place be restored until the current site design was ready for release.
