This article suggests that, although the Conservatives may win more seats in the upcoming election, they may not be able to form a government.
In that instance, the governer general has the right to give government power to the incumbent party, as long as that party forms a coalition government with another party.
This could lead to a Liberal/NDP coalition government, or Liberal/NDP/Bloc Quebecois coalition. At the very least, Martin would need to gain commitments from the NDP and BQ to ensure that a no-confidence vote was not called.
As the article points out, however, the gap need only be 5-10 seats for this to happen. Any more than that, and the party with more seats will, obviously, take power.
So if you aren't planning on voting already, get out there and vote on Monday the 25th 28th. If you haven't registered, or have moved since the last election, take a piece of mail with your new address and some picture ID to your local polling station.
Oh, and your country thanks you for not voting Conservative.

I have to point out that the election is actually on Monday, June 28th.
