We need another Trudeau

<< They're here! | Main | Yet another reason to not vote Conservative >>

Quote stolen from Beetroot:

There is no such thing as a model or ideal Canadian. What could be more absurd than the concept of an "all-Canadian" boy or girl? A society which emphasizes uniformity is one which creates intolerance and hate. A society which eulogizes the average citizen is one which breeds mediocrity.

- Pierre Elliot Trudeau, in a speech to the Ukrainian-Canadian Congress in Winnipeg, October 9, 1971

Trudeau said this 33 years ago, and it's just as valid today.

  1. Agreed. The US could use a good one as well. I'm sure that Kerry is better than Bush, but Kerry still doesn't seem to strike me as a "great" president. Course, I'm not in the US so I don't really care all that much, other than the safety of the rest of the world that is :)
