A Canada without a military

Opinions: Canada Without Armed Forces? by J Dennie

This is one of the best rants I've read in a long time. J Dennie goes off on a report from Queens that states the Canadian military needs $15 billion to avoid falling into obsolescence and suggests that maybe that's not such a bad thing after all.

Now, granted, Canada's peacekeeping troops do a fantastic job (K disagrees with me on this point, as she has issues against the peacekeeping process) - but could easily be financed through the UN, rather than the Canadian public, redirecting funds to social programs such as health and education.

In the end, J raises a good question -- do we really even need a military in Canada?
