I've had the strangest urges lately... two of the top contenders are:
- Opening an art gallery in Edmonton, and stocking it full of paintings, sculpture and photography I find interesting. Locales have ranged from my own home to a warehouse bay.
At this point, it's totally not feasible without an external cash source, but it's definitely something I'd consider doing if someone else came up with the capital. I already have a couple artists I know who would get first dibs on exhibits.
- Saving $5,000, selling just about everything I own and travelling the world for a couple of years. I'd want to travel to all of the non-standard places (Malaysia/Thailand/Indonesia, Brazil/Chile/Peru, Eastern Europe, the Balkans, the former Soviet republic, China), getting deep into the culture so I can learn about them. Laptop (upgraded to have new hard drive and CD burner - or maybe a portable drive) and digital camera would be in tow, so I could keep a record of our travels. Of course, I do say our travels, because K would be right there with me. Part of the journey would be a couple of months in London, so she could do her research on original manuscripts.
The likelihood of either of the above urges being fulfilled is truly zero-to-none... but they're the urges I've been feeling nonetheless.

I hear ya. Not for 1 but definately 2. Funny urges to have just after buying a house though :)
Personally I could replace 1 with a modified 2. I'd love to go and live somewhere for a few months, maybe england, egypt, someplace different. It's a separate thing from going travelling all over the place, and seeing everything you possibly can see though :)
