So now we know how...

<< farking spammers. | Main | in the new place... >>

Let's face it, our cats are fat. Since Heidegger moved into our apartment, Zelda has been growing larger and larger; Heidegger's been trying to keep up with the weight gain, but his multiple episodes of sickness/wounds have helped curb the weight gain.

A few months ago, we cut down the amount of food we give them on a daily basis, in the hopes that they wouldn't gain weight quite as quickly. Of course, they continued to be the lovable porkers we were getting used to.

In the days leading up to our big move (tomorrow! eek!), we finally discovered why our cats are getting so fat.

It turns out that several people in our apartment building have been giving them treats when our cats have been hanging around outside the apartment.

Laurie, the girl downstairs, has been giving them tuna, and Devon and Chelina (across the hall neighbours) have been giving them scraps of chicken and what-not over the past few months.

I guess you could say that mystery is solved. It brings to light one of the things I'm going to miss most about our apartment building - the people that live there. Just about everyone there (aside from the crazy guy above us, who averages 3 baths a day, at random intervals) is extremely friendly, and we all know each other (if not by name, then by sight). There's a nice community feeling there.

The preparations for the move are going really well, though our apartment is EXTREMELY claustrophobic right now. Thankfully, we have a few people to help us on the 15th and 16th to move everything over, and Kirsten's Dad is coming up to help us to remove part of the patio and an unwanted subfloor in the basement for the foundation guys to do their work on Monday.

Our realtor's being kind of a jerk at the moment, though, so hopefully there are no major delays on his part tomorrow (long story, but we're really unimpressed with him, due to some roadblocks we've hit in the process).

More later.

  4. ScoobyD, much as I'd love to believe that, my experience has taught my otherwise. Some hide it better than others yes, but still.... http://arcterex.net/fvreb.html
