And here are the photos from hike #2...

This is Cloe, the kitten that jumped all over me the night before the hike, with Aida's son, David.

And the cat on her own... a kitten this cute - how can you stay mad at her?
![]()
Me and Cloe. Kirsten was trying to get a good shot of the kitten, but she wouldn't sit still... that is, until she got a little scritchin'

And, of course, Kirsten and Cloe. This also captures how fast David generally moves around the house. He's a quick little tyke.

At the halfway mark on the hike, there was a second trail - the Mt. Everest Expedition Trail, commemorating the first Canadian-led expedition to summit Mt. Everest. This is the view from the top.

On the way, we saw this little island.

...and me, looking at the other lake.

At the end of the hike, we found this waterfall.

great pictures! particularly the first one, great colours and composition. there's a bit of a blur in all the others: is this a fault of the camera or was it film?
-- Posted by >> Chrissie » Thursday, June 12, 2003 09:27 AMPS: you and k look great together. And I am very jealous of your mountain hikes. must move Eric away from the monitor. ;)
It's a combination of the camera, and the fact that the camera was sitting in my pocket, gathering condensation on the lens. ;)
Also, because it's only a rangefinder camera, it doesn't always have the best focus. ;)

-- Posted by >> Chrissie » Thursday, June 12, 2003 03:29 PMArc: I think the shot of Darren with the kitty looks neat, too. I (maybe incorrectly) assumed Darren had done a little work with photoshop. Darren?
I use something called the Dooce effect, named after the website that started it.
-- Posted by >> Darren » Thursday, June 12, 2003 03:47 PMIt often takes a little tweaking to get it to look *just* right. On these photos, only cat3 and cat4 were retouched. cat1 and cat2 are just as the camera took them (with auto levels & auto contrast employed in photoshop to clean up the scanner's tonal changes).
