It seems like the US is giving in to Al Qaeda's demands after all. The US Military presence in Saudi Arabia is being removed.
Qatar is the new home of choice for the US, having been a great patsy for the invasion of Iraq.

There's one troubling line in the article, however:

"It is very significant. It reduces America's dependence on Saudi Arabia and it throws open the opportunity for Iraq to become America's favorite base in the region," defense analyst Paul Beaver told Reuters in London.
