the job entry

<< every once in awhile.... | Main | 2002 Personal Tax Generator >>

I rarely talk about the workplace here in this blog, wherever that workplace may be, pretty much out of respect for the people I work with...

But tonight, I make an exception, with the new job.

I've only been with the new company for a few days, but I'm already starting to enjoy myself there.

The creative team there, though young, is vibrant, friendly, and talented. I can tell I'll be stimulated by the people around me, and really develop my skills as a web guru.

One of the biggest contributors to to my happiness, however, is that I've been working on projects that are ethically sound: a project for a native program, and another for a health initiative have hit the queue so far. The projects seem to stay that way too, at least for the near future.

This is important to me... Though I never had a problem with going against my ethics at Merilus, I worked every day at Matrikon knowing that people in oil, gas, nuclear power, forestry and manufacturing were benefitting. I actually consulted with some of the QA guys on a touchscreen interface for illiterate factory workers in Asia minor.

As such, working on projects that have a social conscience is a welcome relief. A very welcome relief, indeed.
