I'm still alive, contrary to popular reports. I've been kept so busy over the last few days partying at the swankest clubs, criss-crossing the continent on a book tour, and signing body-parts, that I just haven't had time to post...
OK, so none of that happened. The truth of the matter is that I just haven't been hanging around the computer all that much over the past few days. This is about to change, though I likely still won't have much time to post.
We've been kept extremely busy by a new addition to our household (more about that some other time). We also had a friend up from Calgary the past couple days, which means paying more attention to the flesh people.
In other news, I've been planning a site for Kirsten, so her English 101 students can put their old books up for trade with her next batch of students. I've finally got it all mapped out, so it's just a matter of creating the site (I've got all the code in my head).
It's turning out to be a great thing... I'm getting more direct experience with databases and user authentication. Which reminds me: if anyone has any tips on working with session variables, let me know - I'm looking for relatively simple ways to make storing session variables a little more securely. I need a way to maintain login status and a user level (ie: user, moderator, admin) without constantly hitting the database. Session variables will do that, but I don't want to compromise the security of a critical thing like checking to see if the user has admin access.
No news yet on the job front. I've got one very promising lead (thanks Anders!), one request to take over a government contract if the current contractor can't complete it, and had another interview today.
And, finally, I'm about to sit down and do a HELL of a lot more writing over the next couple of months for my latest undisclosed project. ;)
And that's all the news that's fit to print.
