traditional vs. digital...

<< new article up... | Main | This is entry #1010. >>

As much as I love having the new camera, I realize now just how much freedom the digital gave me...

As I was wandering around yesterday looking for things to photograph, I realized that I was forcing myself to pause, and evaluate whether or not I really wanted to take a picture of [insert object here], or if I should wait for a 'better' opportunity to present itself!

With the digital, I'd just take pictures of everything and anything, because I knew I could just delete it later... with film, I'm limited to the 12 or 24 exposures in there!

As well, I miss the lack of instant gratification / quality checking available in the digital format... it sucks that I'm going to have to wait a couple days to find out whether the pictures I took were any good or not!

On the bright side, I suppose this will work towards making me a more 'careful' photographer in the long run.

At least I discovered that Wal-Mart will develop the negatives direct to CD for about $4, so I don't have to worry yet about getting them into a digital format.

London Drugs (and probably Wal-Mart too) will also put them up for upload and send you a password once they've been developed.

I just checked and see that you have london drugs in edmonton. definitely get your photos finished there! I mean, I can't knock Walmart 'cos I haven't had film developed there, but after using London Drugs I wouldn't even look elsewhere. Glossy finish with borders. :)
