From the makers of the least scariest movie on earth...

<< CSS 2.1 Recommendation out | Main | all I know... >>

There's a new movie coming out, fear.com that I've resolved to Never See In A Million Years. Why, you may ask, would I make such a statement about a movie I've never actually seen? Here's why:

1. It's made by the same people who made House on Haunted Hill, a movie that scared me only by being so pathetically NOT scary. A movie who spawned such memorable lines as, "The house doesn't care what's fair, who lives or dies. Know why? Cause it's a fucking HOUSE!"

2. They didn't even bother to secure the domain 'fear.com'; the actual film website is www.feardotcom.com. Shouldn't that be reflected in the movie's title? For what it's worth, Fear.com (the real site, not the movie site) looks like a very interesting project: "Questioning the wisdom of FDR's statement daily..."

admittedly, I've only seen the trailer once + haven't got a clue what the movie is about but the title ensures that I will see it. and at the theatre. I am such a sucker for a crappy internet movies.

Funnily enough, the scariest part of watching "House on Haunted Hill" occurred outside of the movie:

We were watching House on Haunted Hill at K's brother's place one night, in the dark... about 3/4 of the way through the movie, we started hearing a *whiirrrrr-click* noise every 5 seconds or so. At first, we thought it was the movie. Then we paused the movie, and the sound continued. All of us were starting to get just a little bit worried, while we searched around the apartment to find the source of the noise. Finally, we found it.

It turns out his camera had spontaneously decided to rewind itself while we were watching the movie, and somehow the rewind button was stuck.

Needless to say, we watched the rest of the movie with the lights on, and went home shortly thereafter.

Thought I'd go back in the archives and admit that I WENT TO SEE THIS MOVIE. Hey...I wanted some popcorn. It was awful. The website IN the actual movie is also Feardotcom.com, and none of it makes any sense. More of a ghost story than a murder mystery. Bleh. One out of five midgets!
