I'm back!

<< so close, yet so far... | Main | ad-storm. bring copy. >>

I tell ya... I head on a weekend trip, and everything turns to shit!

Sunday night, the server that hosts staticred.net and nasty.cx went belly-up. The new hard drive Alan had thrown into the system completely turded itself when faced with the sheer amount of data it had to handle. Well, after fighting the gods of server troubles, Alan was finally able to get the server back up and running. And not a moment too soon!

This weekend, I'll be completely overhauling staticred. The content that's already here isn't going anywhere, but there will be new content a-comin' and a brand spankin' new look to the site to bring everything together. Can't get into too much more detail, but it'll be pretty damned bitchin'

On a personal note, I finally got my chipped tooth fixed today. Going into the dentist this afternoon was an intimidating prospect: I was either getting a filling, or getting a root canal.

When I left his office last Wednesday, he wasn't entirely sure what was going to happen -- but he'd have a happy pill waiting for me if it was root canal time.

When I entered the office this morning, there he was -- happy pill in hand. As it turns out, he still wasn't sure if I was going to be getting a Root Canal, or the much-more inocuous-sounding IRM. A few drilling expiditions later, it was determined that there was no significant damage to the nerve, and the base of the tooth was still quite strong. As such, no root canal was required!

The Dentist therw in a 'medicated filling' to heal the nerve fully, which has to be removed & replaced in about 6 months.

While I was in, they scheduled me to go through a cleaning. My memories of recent cleanings have been far from pleasant: the former dental hygeneist was a bitter old cow who had nothing better to do than inflict massive amounts of pain on her subjects. The current dental hygeneist was exceptionally gentle, stopping when I needed her to stop, and putting off some more severe cleaning until next we meet.

So, over all, despite my intense phobia of needles and metal in my mouth, it was all rather painless. I still have to go back in a couple of weeks to get a cavity taken care of, and then I'm done for another 6 months!

hey darren. you're really back this time. yay! looking forward to seeing the new look, and curious about the new content.

congrats too on going to the dentist. I can sure empathize even though I had such an awesome experience with my dental hygeniest and dentist. still, I have to have one final thing done (involves cutting and EXTRACTING) and so I'm putting it off. It's comforting to know there are other scaredy cats in the world just like me. hee!
