Apple misses again.

Many people were anxiously awaiting Apple's product announcement yesterday; all the rumours pointed to a new handheld - something Newton fans like myself have been anxiously awaiting for a couple of years now.

Instead, they give us the iPod. Yet Another MP3 Player. Sure, it's well designed, light, and has a great UI. It's just not what I was hoping Apple would announce.

Nobody's matched the Newton's simplicity and ease-of-use. Nobody. Apple should have cashed in on PDAs by now, or at least have licensed Newton OS to somebody who could.... but they refuse to do either.

Oh, and did I mention that the iPod is Mac only?
