<< Bush announces "tough stance" against China | Main | Glenn Davis: What's next, grammar flames? >>

kuro5hin.org || Bush administration withdraws from Kyoto Treaty on Global WarmingDespite international condemnation, the Bush administration has indicated that it will not honour the 1997 Kyoto Treaty on Global Climate Change. This is despite growing scientific evidence since then that global climate change is occurring. Citing concerns about the impact on the US economy and the fact the third world countries are mostly exempt as excuses, the Bush administration has shown that the real people behind it are the good ol' boys from Texan oil industry.

Again, this really doesn't surprise me. Bush pushes ahead his National Missle Defense system, despite threats from several countries of retaliatory arms build-up. He snubs China by indignantly refusing to apologize for an incident involving a US spy plane. He pulls out of Israel's peace talks. The US hasn't been this isolationist since before Roosevelt. I fear Bush driving them back into that isolationist tradition -- something neither the US, nor its neighbour Canada can afford.
